TLC Farm proudly supports a new project to transform identities and relationships through place-based, experiential education, encouraging critical reflections on our responsibilities regarding settler colonialism in this region. These courses will be run by the Wapato Valley School and its partner Confluence, and are supported by many other organizations.
Learn more about these courses, which focus on deepening connections with this place, encountering the rich history of what we call Cascadia before and during contact with Europeans, to better address the period of social and ecological crises in which we live. The courses will take place at sites of cultural and landscape significance and provide opportunities to learn more about this place and to reflect on what it means to live where we do and with all that has come before us. (TLC Farm's current set of summer workshops includes a closely related session.)
If you are interested to learn more about these topics, to explore your identity in relationship to the land, to reflect on the history of colonization and connect all of this to contemporary social and environmental justice issues then check out these exciting offerings!
These 2015 course offerings are designed to provide different pathways that meet the diverse needs of participants.
The Introductory Courses are intended as a way for you to “try out” this educational format before committing to a longer series. If you are intrigued by the idea, but don’t want to commit the time or money yet should choose this option.
The Self Select Courses are designed to be flexible and allow you to make varied commitments of time, money and energy. As part of these courses you will attend an introductory class session before choosing the times and themes that are specifically engaging to you and work for your schedule.
