Come on over, experience spring on the farm and join in a community potluck. Friends, neighbors, volunteers, and farm-curious folks are all welcome to come get to know the folks and the land. Every month is different, but it's always a good time!
During our spring cleaning we unearthed a lot of old wood from various projects, so we're going to end the evening with a big bonfire to selebrate spring and the coming of May Day/Beltane. You are invited to bring songs and stories to share around the fire.
During our long 20th anniversary (2024, 2025 and into 2026), we're harvesting memories, learnings, and feedback about the many kinds of experiences people have had through TLC Farm -- and how they've influenced peoples' lives far beyond. We plan to make these available as a suite of resources in a world where learning to share life and land is evermore core.
So: how can we do this together?
Firstly, please fill out this form. There's both a short series of questions, and a longer one for those that find more detailed prompts helpful. Anything you're able to share is great -- and feel free to fill out the form on multiple occasions if that works best for you.
Secondly, there's a place to share photos and videos -- from back in the day is great; and/or, please record yourself telling stories, take photos of people, projects, and places that have been influened by the Farm, or the like. We'd love that!
Finally, if you're available to help reach out to people, interview folks, and/or curate the results into compelling compilations, please email 20th@tryonfarm.org . We'd really love your participation, in all the ways!
In a time where the environment is rapidly shifting due to climate change, now more than ever, it's important to support our ecosystems. Biodiversity builds resilience. The more biodiversity there is, the more resilient an ecosystem. Invasive species take over and reduce the biodiversity of an ecosystem.
At TLC Farm, we are actively working to remove invasive species and replant native species to increase the biodiversity on the land. Please come help us in this project series! There will be many work parties with this focus, as invasive species are stubborn and aggressive, which requires our persistence to remove them.
No experience necessary. This work will require light to medium physical labor and tasks can be adjusted to fit your physical abilities. The projects will include path clearing and/or invasive species removal, depending on the day and current needs of the land.
Tools, gloves, and snacks will be provided, but if you have tools you like to use, please bring them! We will meet in the Village Green area by the outdoor kitchen, yurt, and composting toilets.
If you plan to come, please RSVP at engagement@tryonfarm.org
(If you like to live spur of the moment, you can come without an rsvp but it really helps us to get a headcount!)
Save the date for our next Land Tending work parties:
Wednesday, August 2 from 10 am-1 pm and
Saturday, August 12 from 3-6 pm.
We're in the midst of a campaign to grow our Friends of the Farm - the committed, generous, creative people who sustain TLC Farm through monthly donations - with a goal of rasing $100 more per month. This could look like 10 people giving $10 per month, or 4 people giving $25, or all the other possible combinations!
TLC Farm is committed to keeping our land and programs econimically accessible, which means our programs are offered on a sliding scale and we work to make use of the land available to all groups, regardless of ability to pay. Our generous donors help make this approach possible. Become a Friend of the Farm today!
It makes a difference to become a Friend of the Farm!
Stability: Our program income and other fundraising is cyclical, ebbing and flowing throughout the year; regular contributions from Friends provide a reliable source of income each month to meet our financial obligations.
Joy: It feels great to give, and it feels great to receive – generosity makes everyone involved happier.
Leverage: Honestly, it looks good to foundations and major donors to have a solid base of regular financial supporters. Providing stability helps us obtain larger donations.
Demonstration of the Grassroots: As witnessed with the “Save the Farm” campaign, thousands of people each giving what they can really does add up to significant numbers. TLC Farm is an inspiring demonstration of the spirit of community, part of which is regular giving.
Help us meet our goal: become a Friend of the Farm and THANKS!

It's Cob Time again at TLC Farm!
Village Building Convergence: June 3rd-7th
Once again, we'll get muddy together as we participate in our 11th VBC; this year, we'll be hosting natural building work parties to transform our greenhouse using cob and other building techniques to create both a beautiful community gathering place and also a sturdy thermal mass wall to help regulate the greenhouse temperature. This addition complements our new ethnobotanical educational garden/ gathering area.
Join us for work parties Friday June 3rd through Tuesday June 7th,
10:00 am – 4:00 pm every day.
No natural building experience necessary! As always, parking is very limited so please carpool or bike, or catch the shuttle that will be leaving from the VBC central venue (The Refuge, 116 SE Yamhill St, Portland OR 97214) a half hour before work parties begin and returning in time for the evening events. A simple, delicious, nutritious lunch will be provided!
Visit the City Repair site to get more information about VBC projects citywide and the evening events.
Feedback and participation welcome! Please send bug reports to web@tryonfarm.org
