Two workshops to get you ready for spring - come to either, or both: Pollinators, focused on mason bees, from 11am - 1pm and Fruit Tree Pruning from 2pm - 4pm

Pollinators: Spring is coming and the plants need to be pollinated -- especially all those fruit blossoms! Help plants thrive by introducing mason bees to your garden or neighborhood.

TLC Farm shares this land with many mason bees, who are cultivated by one of our landpartners, Cedar Moon. At this works, you'll learn why mason bees are such great pollinators and how to care for your own bees. Mason bees focus their pollination on spring fruit crops, but will visit other plants as well during their six-week active period.

At the workshop, you'll be able to buy your own farm-grown mason bees, and Cedar Moon will donate 10% of sale to TLC Farm.

Pruning: Fruit trees - especially apples and pears, and to a lesser extent, plums - thrive with yearly pruning to encourage fruit production and minimize bough breakage and disease.  Late winter is the perfect time to prune for structure and fruiting; we'll discuss and demonstrate examples of how to train and prune young trees, repair years of neglect in mature trees, and how to prune to maximize flowers for pollinators. Bring your own sharp loppers or secateurs if you want to practice!

$25 suggested donation per workshop (no one turned away for lack of funds). To register, or for more information, contact
